LGBTQIA Affirming Therapy

Therapy that Understands You

Welcome, The owners of the S & J Wellness PLLC understand the unique collective trauma that encompasses LGBTQIA+ people because we have lived experience. We also understand the specific concerns that impact our LGBTQIA+ community. We have done more than read about it, we have lived it. As such, our therapists on staff are LGBTQIA+ affirming, we are careful about who joins the practice.

We are an affirming and safe therapy practice. Social norms, oppressive policies and laws, discrimination in society and sometimes within your own family or friend group can feel overwhelming and is a traumatic experience. Therapy with an LGBTQIA+ affirming or identifying therapist is important and can lead to healing if you feel understood, respected, and safe.

How can LGBTQIA+ therapy help with this you may wonder?

Therapy is a safe place to begin to process trauma, discrimination, internalized feelings of inadequacy, distress, and the journey of coming out and living with pride. LGBTQIA+ affirming therapy can also be a safe place to process what we see in the news, social media, and other sources.

No matter what stage of your journey you are in, you have come to the right place for therapy. We hope that we can connect you with an LGBTQIA+ affirming therapist who can help you accomplish your therapy goals. Some of the specific issues we work with are:

LGBTQ Couple's Therapy in an affirming environment

LGBTQIA+ family therapy

Religious Trauma

History of sexual or physical abuse

Family Issues stemming from abandonment and rejection

Medical Trauma

Living with and Instilling Pride in your life

Anxiety and Depression

Queer Counseling

LGBTQ Therapy

Neurodivergence, and much more.

Therapy that is affirming can help you process these experiences and heal from the past. LGBTQIA+ therapy can help you become empowered and proud of who you are, because you are valuable. LGBTQIA+ affirming therapy can also help you reduce anxiety and depression symptoms.

Our practice is a member of the World Association for Transgender Health, Inc. (WPATH).

Please call our office to find out if we are a good fit for you. 815-782-2172. Our office is in Warrenville and we are a 15-20 minute drive from Aurora and Naperville area.
